Department of Business Economics
B.A. (H) Business Economics is a self-financed course which started in 2005. Since then, it has become one of the most sought-after courses in the college. Students go through a rigorous admission procedure which includes an entrance test and merit considerations to qualify for a seat in this coveted course. Besides classroom teaching, the curriculum includes seminars and industrial visits to ensure effective learning and overall development of students. Biochemistry is a multidisciplinary field which is concerned with the molecular design of life. The study of Biochemistry includes the structure of molecules found in the living system, metabolic pathways, synthesis of the molecules of life (e.g. Amino acids, carbohydrates, nucleotides etc.), response to environmental changes (e.g. sensory system, immune system etc.), expression and transmission of genetic information. The Biochemistry laboratory is well equipped with the latest equipments to meet the need of a wide spectrum of students who study Biochemistry at the undergraduate level. It familiarizes the students with the state of art biochemical techniques like Thin layer chromatography, Gel filtration chromatography, Electrophoresis, Spectrophotometer, Trans- illuminator, centrifuge, pH meter, Autoclave and Laminar air flow chamber. Biochemistry laboratory also has many other instruments for conducting the practical’s. The students are trained to understand the practical implications of the subject in a wide spectrum of fields. Some of the sectors/industries in which Biochemists work include Biotechnology, Food, Health, Beauty care, Medical instruments companies, chemical manufacturing companies, Research organizations and Laboratories, Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, Blood Bank, Forensic science, Diagnostic Laboratories, Environment and pollution control organizations.
